Kathleen McGinley founder of Phoenix Adventures in Wellness, received her Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Physical Education from East Stroudsburg State College in 1976 and has taught in the Allentown School District for 30 years. During this time she attained her Master’s Equivalency by taking credits in counseling along with various wellness courses. Her impact on the lives of her former students is demonstrated when she was nominated and selected to appear in the 9th and 10th editions of " Who's Who Among American Teachers, 2005 and 2006." This prestigious award recognizes teachers who made a difference in their students’ lives. Only high school and college students who have been cited for academic excellence themselves in “Who’s Who Among American High School Students” and “The National Dean’s List” are invited to nominate one teacher from their entire academic experience.
In 2005 Kathleen attained her wellness life coaching certification
from the Spencer Institute in California. She utilizes her expertise
as a health/physical education teacher, wellness life coach, and
her transformative life experiences to help women attain a high
level of wellness by teaching them how to create a balance between
their physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual health.
Kathleen’s classes, workshops, retreats, and individual
coaching methods are experiential in nature and combine traditional
health education with various alternative healing modalities and
holistic wellness activities. Examples of these modalities include
Reiki, Watsu, Native American spirituality, and ancient Toltec
wisdom. Last year Kathleen served as an apprentice under Dr. Susan
Gregg, author of Mastering The Toltec Way, Finding Your Sacred
Self, and Dance of Power.
Kathleen has also received training in Adventure Based Counseling
through Project Adventure in 1995. As a facilitator of these experiential
workshops which take place on the beautiful wooded hillsides of
Mt. Gretna, Pa, she has successfully led many individuals to self
discovery and empowerment.
Another area of specialization includes instruction in aquatics.
Kathleen has over 30 years of experience in teaching swimming
to people of all ages. She holds certifications in American Red
Cross lifesaving, water safety instruction, CPR and first aid.
Her mentor has been her father, Dennis McGinley, who is an inductee
in the International Swimming Hall of Fame.
Kathleen lives with her husband, Dave, outside of Emmaus, PA in
an 1850’s farmhouse and barn which is in the process of
renovation. She has two children, Sean and Ryan who are pursuing
their dreams and have been an inspiration to all who know them.
Recently, Indigo, an Australian Shepherd, has become a welcomed
new addition to the family.
